Rams Not Planning New Uniforms Until '19; Team HQ Set For California Lutheran Univ.

Rams Exec VP/Football Operations & COO Kevin Demoff yesterday said that the team "does not plan to change uniforms" until the '19 season, according to Gary Klein of the L.A. TIMES. Demoff: "There are fans that want to see us go back to our old L.A. colors. It's not as simple as that." Demoff added that the NFL "requires teams to submit permission to overhaul uniforms between January and March of a given year for implementation two years after that." The Rams' uniform issue will be "officially discussed for the first time" today at the NFL owners' meeting. But Demoff said that the team "would not apply for a change" until '17, putting it on track for implementation in '19. The Rams can "wear throwback uniforms for two home games and so-called 'color-rush' uniforms for Thursday night games." Demoff said that the process for changing throwback uniforms "requires only one year, so there's a possibility the Rams could explore that." Demoff: "I don't particularly love our current uniforms -- I know there are a lot of fans who feel that way. But the thing that makes the most sense is to keep them in place for now." The Rams have said that they "took more than 56,000 deposits for season tickets at the Coliseum, with depositors entitled to request a maximum of eight seats." Demoff said that the team "hoped to begin processing requests" the first week in April (L.A. TIMES, 3/22).

BASE OF OPERATIONS: In California, Rhiannon Potkey notes the Rams "submitted a proposal to build athletic facilities" on the campus of California Lutheran Univ. The school "has been in discussions with the Rams about serving as the home for their year-round training activities" since January (VENTURA COUNTY STAR, 3/22).

MOVIN' ON OUT: YAHOO SPORTS' R.B. Fallstrom noted relocating offices, weights, equipment and personnel "has been a monumental task that has kept the Rams hopping" since January. Rams Dir of Operations Bruce Warwick said that "about 30 semi-truck loads carrying 20,000 to 22,000 pounds each will make the journey" to California. Business and scouting operations were "shut down in St. Louis last Friday." The Rams Park parking lot is "nearly empty now" with just "finishing touches remaining before" the $15M complex reverts to St. Louis ownership. Its future use is "unclear." Warwick has been "splitting time" between L.A. and St. Louis to get a "feel for the 'massive' territory the Rams have re-acquired." The primary goal has been "minimizing distractions for the front office, coach Jeff Fisher and the players." The Rams "set up an internal website to tag and catalog about 25,000 items to be moved, a number that doesn't include items boxed up by employees" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com 3/21).
