Wild Goose Chased: Tony Siragusa Reportedly Removed From Fox' NFL Coverage

Tony Siragusa will "not be returning to Fox's NFL coverage" in '16 after working for the net for nearly a decade, according to Ryan Glasspiegel of THE BIG LEAD. He spent eight years "supplementing the announce team of Daryl Johnston and Kenny Albert," and this past season he worked with Thom Brennaman and Charles Davis. While sideline reporters typically "offer information and generally steer away from analysis, Siragusa was a roving personality on the field" (THEBIGLEAD.com, 3/16). In Newark, Randy Miller writes Siragusa "seemed to have a knack for adding entertainment to NFL games." There is "something about his husky voice, his big teddy bear appearance and his enthusiasm that resonates" with viewers (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 3/17). SPORTS ON EARTH's Michael Tunison wrote Siragusa was "given freedom most sideline reporters on NFL broadcasts don't get, and the chance to engage audiences with what sometimes could be a meathead persona." The "tone of broadcasts is sure to be different without him" (SPORTSONEARTH.com, 3/16).
