Overnight Ratings: NASCAR Sprint Cup Down Again; IndyCar Sees Gain For Opener

NCAA men's basketball conference tournament telecasts and the tournament Selection Show dominated the airwaves this past weekend. Coming in right behind the 3.7 overnight rating for the Selection Show was a 3.6 for Fox' NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Phoenix. However, the 3.6 overnight is down from a 3.8 rating last year. After four Sprint Cup races, Fox has now seen year-over-year declines for each telecast. Meanwhile, the Verizon IndyCar Series began in St. Petersburg, with ABC drawing a 1.1 overnight for the race. That figure is up from 0.8 overnight for the St. Pete opener last year, and up from a 0.6 rating in '14.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
