Weekend Plans With SeatGeek Exec VP Nihar Singhal: Date Night, Selection Sunday

For SeatGeek Exec VP/Business Development & Strategy NIHAR SINGHAL, there is nothing more valuable than spending time on the weekends with his wife. That can entail relaxing at their home in Brooklyn or getting out on the town and exploring what the Big Apple has to offer. Whether it be trying a new hot spot or catching up on some reading, he cherishes time away from the grind of the work week. Here, Singhal tells THE DAILY his plans for this upcoming weekend.

TRYING NEW THINGS: Friday is usually date night. It is generally just a good way for us to unwind after a long week and catch up. We leave our phones at home so we can really focus on one another. We try to go somewhere new every time. That is the great thing about N.Y., there are new restaurants popping up all the time. There are a couple of great sushi spots that we like in our neighborhood, along with a Greek place. I have actually gotten into cooking quite a bit. I’ve never really been much of a cook, but eating out all the time can get a little bit tiring. I also just started going to the Whole Foods near us and trying a bunch of random things. I cook all of our food on Sunday so that we have enough for the week.

MUSIC MAN: I try to take a yoga class on Saturday mornings followed by watching some European soccer, which I am a big fan of. My favorite clubs are FC Barcelona and Liverpool. I usually play a couple of times a week. My wife and I also like to pick neighborhoods that we haven’t been to before and take walking tours. We end up walking miles and discovering new things along the way. Saturday night we are going to a show with some friends at one of my favorite venues -- the Rockwood Music Hall in Manhattan. It is an intimate venue and they feature up-and-coming musicians. It is a good time and a great way to discover new music.

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN: This Sunday is a unique situation because it’s Selection Sunday. I am going to be biting my nails hoping Michigan can make the tournament. We are right on the bubble. But other than that, Sundays are usually about taking it easy. I will probably go to brunch and get in some sort of workout. I try to lay low and prepare for the upcoming week. I will probably spend an hour or two getting my thoughts organized and answering any outstanding emails. One of the most important things to do is to figure out the key priorities for me and my team for the week.
