Construction Of Packers' Titletown District Set To Begin Before End Of March

The first phase of the Packers' Titletown District project was approved yesterday, with construction "expected to begin before the end of March," according to a front-page piece by Richard Ryman of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. Announced anchors for the 34-plus acre site "include Lodge Kohler, a four-star hotel and spa; Hinterland Brewery and a Bellin Health sports medicine clinic." Initial investment in the project, "including land acquisition and infrastructure improvements by the Packers, is estimated" at $120-130M. Village President Michael Aubinger said that Titletown "will generate" up to $100M in tax base. Ryman notes Phase 1 "consists of 21 acres, including six acres of the planned 10-acre public park and plaza." The Packers have said that they "will work on the rest of the project once they get the anchors and plaza underway." Packers VP & General Counsel Ed Policy in August said that the "total team investment" will be about $65M. The plan "calls for the anchors to open" by the beginning of the '17 NFL season. The "heart of the project is the 10-acre public plaza and park that will include an ice skating pond in winter, an event area and a football field-sized green space" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 3/9).
