CSNNE Reporter Resigns Over Questions About Relationship With Red Sox Manager

CSN New England reporter Jessica Moran on Friday "resigned from the network" amid questions about the "nature of her relationship" with Red Sox manager John Farrell, according to Mark Shanahan of the BOSTON GLOBE. There had been speculation in recent days at the team's Spring Training facility in Ft. Myers, Fla., "among local and national baseball reporters about Farrell's relationship with Moran, who until Friday covered the team for the network." Farrell on Friday declined to comment on the rumors, saying just that he and his wife Sue are getting divorced and have "been separated for most of the past two years." Moran had worked at the net since '09 (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/5). Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski said that he "doesn't see the Moran issue affecting Farrell's guidance of the team." He added that the Red Sox "have no club policy regarding relationships with media members." In Boston, Gayle Fee noted Moran "is not the first Red Sox beat reporter to be linked to a member of the team." Former NESN reporter Hazel Mae "dated a few local jocks and eventually married" former MLBer Kevin Barker. She said that the net "had no rules against dating players and that she wouldn't work there if the network did." Also, CBS Sports' Jenny Dell, formerly a Red Sox reporter for NESN, married now-Brewers 3B Will Middlebrooks. Dell had to "quit her job when their affair went public" (BOSTON HERALD, 3/6).
