Ohio State Assistant AD Willis Expected To Retire In '17; Major Restructuring To Come?

Ohio State Deputy AD Miechelle Willis "plans to retire" next year, and OSU AD Gene Smith "plans to use her impending departure as an opportunity to immediately restructure his department so that administrators’ duties overlap more," according to Bob Hunter of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH. The "importance of that was apparently driven home" when Associate AD/Finance Pete Hagan retired in July '15. Hagan functioned as the athletic department's CFO, and the department’s other administrators "didn’t have either the expertise or understanding of his duties for a smooth transition." Willis served as Exec Associate AD/Student Services & Sports Administration before taking her current role in '14. She has served as Smith’s "primary adviser and functions as the department’s primary decision-maker in his absence." OSU Assistant AD/Sport Administration & Sport Performance is Jamie Oman "expected to be promoted in the restructuring" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 2/26).
