Honda Extends Longest-Standing PGA Tour Event Sponsorship Through '21 Tournament

Title sponsorship for the PGA Tour Honda Classic "is secure" through '21, extending the "longest naming rights relationship" on the Tour, according to Dave George of the PALM BEACH POST. The previous title-sponsorship contract was "due to expire after" this week's event. Honda's name has been on the tournament since '82, and the "only other title sponsorship on the tour that comes close" is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a corporate partnership since '86. Since the tournament permanently moved to PGA National in '07, it has attracted the "world's best players," and attendance "has been strong." Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though World Golf Foundation CEO Steve Mona estimated that naming rights for a PGA Tour event "typically range" between $4-8M (PALM BEACH POST, 2/24).
