Nets Unveil New $50M State-Of-The-Art Practice Facility In Brooklyn

The Nets yesterday unveiled their new $50M, 70,000-square-foot training center, which "includes every state-of-the-art amenity and jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline," according to Brian Lewis of the N.Y. POST. The HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) Training Center, located just three miles from Barclays Center, includes "two full-length courts, a weight room, a training pool and two hydro pools, a rooftop lounge for the players, and an 18-seat theater." Onexim Sports & Entertainment President Irina Pavlova, who reps Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov in the U.S., said that team officials "looked at 50 sites before picking the one in Sunset Park." Lewis notes the finished product "has a TV on the practice court to replay plays instantly, custom-made sofas in the lounge and 8-foot high shower heads." Nets F Thaddeus Young said, “It’s an amazing practice facility, and guys that are going to come here in the future are going to love it" (N.Y. POST, 2/18). Nets G Wayne Ellington added, "I've played for a lot of teams in this league. But this is unmatched." Prokhorov called the facility "another player in the team for us" (NEWSDAY, 2/18). In N.Y., Erica Davies noted HSS has been the Nets' official hospital since '04 and is the facility's "main sponsor." HSS President & CEO Lou Shapiro said that the training center "isn't a public relations ploy, but an extension of the decade-plus relationship between the two organizations" (CRAINSNEWYORK.com, 2/17).
