Falcons Exec VP, CMO & CRO Jim Smith Leaving For Ohio State Alumni Association

Smith was responsible for all marketing and
revenue for the Falcons' new stadium 
Falcons Exec VP, CMO & CRO JIM SMITH is “leaving the franchise to direct” Ohio State’s alumni association, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. Smith, who has worked for the Falcons since ’04, will replace former Heisman Trophy winner ARCHIE GRIFFIN at OSU. Before joining the Falcons, Smith was Crew GM and “held previous marketing positions” with OSU’s athletic department. He was the Falcons VP/Marketing from ’04-09 before being promoted to VP & CMO in ’10. Smith was “responsible for all marketing and revenue” for the Falcons, their new Mercedes-Benz Stadium slated to open in ’17 and their expansion MLS franchise, Atlanta United FC. Smith and his team were “responsible for designing and selling the premium seating options, personal seat licenses, suites, and sponsorships in the new stadium while continuing to maintain and grow the existing Falcons business” (AJC.com, 2/16).
