Astros' Carlos Correa Signs Five-Year Endorsement Deal With Adidas

Astros SS Carlos Correa last Wednesday "signed a five-year contract" with adidas, according to Mark Berman of Houston-based KRIV-Fox. Correa's agent, Frankie Higginbotham, said, “This deal assures that Carlos will be compensated at the highest levels of Major League Baseball." Higginbotham, who pointed out Correa’s initial deal with Nike was worth $2,500, "did not reveal the value" of the adidas contract. Correa said, "It’s a huge deal. I think the Adidas deal is a pretty good one." Berman noted Correa "is not just signing big endorsement deals, he will soon be on the big screen." Legendary Entertainment Chair & CEO Thomas Tull and his company "are in the process of developing a movie" about late Baseball HOFer Roberto Clemente. Correa said, “He asked me if I wanted to be in the movie and I said 'of course.'" Correa "does not know yet what his role will be." Meanwhile, Correa spent Friday "taping his first commercial in the U.S. with Central Houston Auto Group" (FOX26HOUSTON.com, 2/12). In Houston, Greg Rajan noted Correa's contract with Nike "expired during the offseason." adidas now has "two of Houston's most notable athletes under contract," with Rockets G James Harden signing a 13-year, $200M deal last year (CHRON.com, 2/15).
