Blast Motion’s Smart Golf Product Takes Home Prestigious Award

When Golf Digest endorses a product the golf world takes notice. The Magazine which was the long time exclusive home of Tiger Woods carries a lot of clout in the golfing community; so when they named Blast Motion’s Golf swing analyzing product “Best of Show” at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show, it is a big deal.

Blast Motion, as we have covered previously, makes state of the art motion and data capturing technology for athletes of all skill levels and for a wide variety of sports: basketball, baseball, volleyball, golf, and many more.

Their Blast Golf Replay product, like the rest of their products, provides users with data that is vital to understanding performance in order to set goals and improve. The Golf Swing Analyzer helps measure: total swing time, loft, tempo, lie, rotation, and much more.

This small (0.3 oz) sensory device fits comfortably on top the grip of every club in the user’s bag: putters, irons, wedges, and drivers. This sensor relays the data in real time to the user’s Smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth connectivity. One of the most important features for the golfer, is the slow motion video capture. The accompanying Smartphone/tablet app (currently only supported by iOS 8.x, iOS 9.x, Android OS 5.x) is able to provide pre edited, slow motion video, along with metrics overlaying the content to give the user a comprehensive picture of their swing.

There are three main modes that allow players to capture, log, and continually track their progress: online mode, offline mode, and video capture mode. These three settings provide different feedback options. Another feature that is likely to get golfers interested in the product is fact that they are able to share their results with friends and family, allowing them to compete and show off their progress.

The app also offers over 75 different instructional videos to help users actually put the metrics, data, and slow motion videos, to good use.

The company boasts that it is trusted by “more than 100 top players on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours to help improve timing and lower their scores.” However the product can be used by amateur golfers and novices alike; as the viewable metrics range from simple to complex based on the user’s goals. The app is also very user friendly taking only a few minutes to set up.

Golf is a sport that requires precise and intricate movements be repeated over and over in order to be successful; where minute mechanical changes in speed and trajectory can make a massive difference. With Golf Digest’s ringing endorsement of Blast Motion’s Golf Replay product it will likely get into the hands of more players than ever before.

Only time will tell if golfers of all skill levels will try to enhance their games from the tee box to the green with this technology. It is available now on their website and in many retailers for $149.95.
