MLB Commissioner Emeritus BUD SELIG will "join the Sports Law and Business program" at Arizona State's law school. Selig will "teach and will be the founding president of an advisory board to the program." He will also "spearhead an initiative to bring in speakers as part of the Bud Selig Speaker Series on Sports in America." Selig has taught at the Marquette Law School since '09 and last fall "began teaching a course at his alma mater," Wisconsin. He "has a bachelor's degree in American history and political science" (AZCENTRAL.com, 2/9). Meanwhile, longtime HBO Sports exec ROSS GREENBURG is joining Iona College as executive-in-residence. Greenburg will teach a graduate and undergraduate course titled "The Business and Management of Content Creation." Greenburg served as HBO Sports President from '00-11 and worked at HBO for a total of 33 years (Terry Lefton, Editor-At-Large).

NOW THAT'S A RANCH: Rams Owner STAN KROENKE has "agreed to purchase the historic W.T. Waggoner Estate Ranch in Texas." Terms for the purchase of the 520,527-acre ranch "were not disclosed." The ranch, located 175 miles northwest of Dallas, had "been listed with an asking price" of $725M. The Waggoner is the "largest U.S. ranch within one fence, measuring ... nearly 800 square miles" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/10).

NAMES: Wisconsin AD BARRY ALVAREZ and his family, who lost $1M to a $930M Florida ponzi scheme, "have now sued" the lawyers they "hired to try to recoup some of that investment." The suit "accuses the lawyers of legal malpractice, negligence, fraud, and breach of contract," and it also "claims to hold the Madison lawyers responsible for malpractice by the Florida firm they hired to help press the Alvarez's case there." The suit "seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, along with attorney's fees" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/10)....In advance of singer TONY BENNETT's 90th birthday salute, "planned as a benefit" for the Keep Memory Alive charity on May 21, UFC President DANA WHITE has made a $1M donation to "kick-start fundraising for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health" (LASVEGASSUN.com, 2/9)....Ravens RB JUSTIN FORSETT and 49ers WR TORREY SMITH yesterday went to Flint, Mich., to "lend support to the city as it grapples with a growing water crisis." Forsett has "partnered with a group of about 20 NFL players to donate about $100,000 worth of body wipes and water." Forsett's company, ShowerPill, "produces antibacterial body wipes" (Baltimore SUN, 2/10)....JACK NICKLAUS' family has released a cookbook that "is for sale on the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation website" (PALM BEACH POST, 2/8)....Patriots TE ROB GRONKOWSKI "will officially kick off his offseason on Feb. 19, when his Gronk Party Ship sets sail from Miami" to the Bahamas for three days (BOSTON HERALD, 2/10)....ANDY MURRAY has "become the father for the first time after his wife, KIM SEARS, gave birth to a girl" on Sunday (AP, 2/9).
