Falcons' Arthur Blank Has Curable Prostate Cancer, Expected To Miss Several Weeks

Falcons Owner ARTHUR BLANK yesterday said that he "has been diagnosed with curable prostate cancer," and that he will have "surgery later this month," according to Maria Saporta of the ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE. Blank said that from all the tests, the doctors "believe the cancer is contained and 'removing the cancer physically is the best way to treat it.'" He expects it will "take a couple of weeks to recover from surgery." Saporta noted no other additional treatment -- "radiation or chemotherapy or hormonal therapy -- is planned as of now." Blank had decided last year, "many months before he found out he had prostate cancer, to step back from running his day-to-day business interests" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/9). In Atlanta, D. Orlando Ledbetter noted Blank was in S.F. on Friday and "was in good spirits while discussing the condition of the football team, the premium seat license for the new stadium and hopes for landing the Super Bowl" in '19 or '20 (AJC.com, 2/9).
