WNBA Hires Coca-Cola Exec Lisa Borders To Succeed Laurel Richie As President

The NBA has named Coca-Cola exec Lisa Borders WNBA President. Borders comes to the WNBA after working as chair of the Coca-Cola Foundation and VP/Global Community Affairs since '13. She replaces Laurel Richie, who left last November after working for the league since '11. Borders will start her job with the WNBA on March 21 and will report to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. She takes over the WNBA as it gets set to open its 20th season on May 14. Prior to her role at Coca-Cola, Borders was Atlanta City Council President and Vice Mayor from '04-10, where she was instrumental is bringing the WNBA's Atlanta Dream franchise to the city in '08. She has also worked as president of the Grady Health Foundation, Georgia’s largest public hospital and she previously worked as Senior VP/Marketing & External Affairs for Atlanta-based Cousins Properties Inc.
