Orioles Increase Single-Game, Season-Ticket Prices Following Expensive Offseason Moves

The Orioles will raise ticket prices for '16 on "both season-ticket plans and single-game sales," according to Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore SUN. A club official said that season-ticket holders "will see an average price increase of $5 per game with the increase ranging from $3 to $10 per ticket based on the plan and selected games." Single-game tickets "will go up an average of $4 to $5 per ticket." This will be just the "third time in 12 years that the Orioles have increased ticket prices." Season-ticket holders were sent emails yesterday in which Orioles Exec VP/Baseball Operations Dan Duquette "detailed the team’s goal of fielding a contender every season, and points out that the Orioles made long-term commitments to retain" 1B Chris Davis and P Darren O’Day. Season-ticket plans "will still save fans" 15% over single-game prices. Despite the hike, the Orioles will "still offer an average of 12,000 tickets costing $20 or less, a number that reaches up to 18,000 seats" -- about 40% of the ballpark -- on some nights. The Orioles "have committed to spending" nearly $215M through free agency this offseason, the "fifth most in baseball" (Baltimore SUN, 2/10).
