NFL's "Super Bowl Babies" Spot Features Fans Conceived On Super Bowl Sunday

The NFL in the race to "see who will have the funniest ad of Super Bowl 50" may have "taken an early lead with the release of 'Super Bowl Babies,'" according to Brent Axe of the Syracuse POST-STANDARD. Sung to the theme of Seal's "Kiss from a Rose," the ad "features a chorus of fans of all ages who were conceived on Super Bowl Sunday." The commercial "features fans born the year" eight franchises won the game (SYRACUSE.com, 2/1). ESPN.com's Darren Rovell reported the 60-second spot will "air at the end of the third quarter," and is an "extension of the league's 'Football Is Family' campaign." NFL CMO Dawn Hudson said, "We wanted to do something that stuck with the theme that also captured the excitement of the game. Since it was Super Bowl 50, we also charged our ad firm (Grey, New York) to help us look back a little bit while having an optimistic look forward to the future" (ESPN.com, 2/1). AD AGE's E.J. Schultz noted the NFL will also "run a native ad on Buzzfeed that includes a quiz called 'Are You A Super Bowl Baby?' that 'fans of all 19 Super Bowl-winning teams have the opportunity to discover whether they are part of this football family'" (ADAGE.com, 2/1).
