MLB Creates New Program Aimed At Finding Minority, Female Candidates For Job Openings

MLB has created a new Front Office & Field Staff Diversity Pipeline Program, aimed at identifying and developing the pool of qualified minority and female candidates for jobs within the sport. The league formally named Pirates Dir of Player Personnel TYRONE BROOKS to lead the new program as Senior Dir, reporting to MLB Chief Legal Officer DAN HALEM. MLB has also hired RENEE TIRADO as Senior Dir of Recruitment, where she will direct the implementation of recruitment plans and procedures, and report to STEVEN GONZALEZ, Senior VP and Deputy General Counsel for Labor & HR. The two senior-level hires add to MLB’s retention last summer of consulting firm Korn Ferry, which will continue to provide a variety of support services for minority and female job candidates, including interview preparation.
