Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst Firm In Opposing Alcohol Sales At Home Football Games

Univ. of Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst's opinion on beer and wine sales at home football games "has not shifted" since his arrival in '12, and on Thursday he "remained steadfast in his preference to keep booze out" of Memorial Stadium, according to Brian Christopherson of the Lincoln JOURNAL STAR. Eichorst said, "There are some folks out there that might be interested in us heading in that direction, but I don’t have a strong sense of that. And our students, they’d like for us to be able to keep it the way it is. They love the environments we're in in which we compete." Eichorst added that there are "many variables at play when discussing the addition of alcohol sales." Eichorst: "That could increase the prices of concessions across the board because of the way you have to manage the environment in which you serve. And you don't know how many people would stop coming. You might pick up a few who would come because it's available, but you also might lose a group of people who are more family-oriented that may decide not to come if that's the environment" (Lincoln JOURNAL STAR, 1/22).
