No Ordinary World: Residents Look To Halt Duran Duran Concert At Miami Open

The Village of Key Biscayne is "on the hunt to stop a Duran Duran concert from happening" during the ATP/WTA Miami Open in March, according to Douglas Hanks of the MIAMI HERALD. In a letter to Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, attorney Stephen Helfman "warned the county that the planned April 1 post-tennis performance by the British group would violate Crandon Park restrictions that ban most commercial activity at the county park beyond the annual for-profit tennis tourney." He said, "We don’t want it to become a concert venue." Tournament Dir Adam Barrett in a statement called the show “part of the overall tennis experience.” He added that the event "has had concerts in the past" (MIAMI HERALD, 1/20).
