Gotta Catch 'Em All: Pokemon Celebrating 20th Anniversary With Super Bowl Ad

Pokemon has announced that it "will air a commercial on Super Bowl 50 to celebrate the brand's 20th anniversary," according to Tim Nudd of ADWEEK. Details "were scant about what the commercial will entail." The Pokemon Company said only that that it "will encourage fans to 'Train On.'" That refers to the "competitive gameplay aspect of Pokémon." It is not known "how long the ad is, or when it will air on the game" (ADWEEK.com, 1/12). AD AGE's Jeanine Poggi reported Pokemon "is working with the agency Omelet L.A. on the commercial." As part of the campaign, the company "is also using the hashtag #Pokemon20 for fans to share their favorite Pokemon memories on social media" (ADAGE.com, 1/12).

KUNG FU FIGHTING: Web development platform Wix.com, which last month announced its plans to return to the Super Bowl ad lineup, today revealed that its spot will be in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation's upcoming release of "Kung Fu Panda 3" (Wix).
