St. Louis Formally Submits New Stadium Proposal To NFL Ahead Of League Deadline

The St. Louis stadium task force submitted its $1.1B stadium proposal to NFL owners today, a day before the deadline to submit stadium plans for the three markets whose teams are expected to file for relocation to L.A. San Diego will also file a proposal, a rep for the city said, though it is contingent on public vote next year. Oakland is expected to send a letter outlining how it would proceed, meaning St. Louis is the only market with an actionable plan now. "It is a good plan,” said Dave Peacock, the co-head of the St. Louis group. “Frankly as a stadium and a concept it addressed a major issue within the market.” The stadium would be part of riverfront redevelopment area. The plan calls for $250M from the team and $300M from the NFL. The rest would come from public funds and PSL money. The stadium also can accommodate an MLS team. The Rams have not engaged with the governor-appointed task force and are expected Monday to file for relocation to L.A., as are the Raiders and Chargers. NFL owners meet in Houston on Jan. 12-13 to potentially vote on accepting one of two L.A. proposals: the joint Chargers-Raiders Carson development or the Rams in Inglewood. Owner committees also meet next week in N.Y.
