Crowd In Owner's Suite At Cowboys Home Games Carefully Selected By Jones Family

The N.Y. TIMES' Ben Shpigel examined the game experience at the AT&T Stadium owner's suite under the header, "Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Wows Those Gathered At ‘The Fifty.'" The planning process "begins in June or so," when Cowboys Exec VP & Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson and her mother, Gene Jones, "map out the upcoming season." An offer is "extended during the summer, but the formal invitation is not sent until a week before the game." Jones Anderson said of some guests being able to drive beneath the stadium to an elevator that delivers them directly to the suite, "It’s the most valuable thing we have." Shpigel noted there are 48 seats in the suite, "terraced in three rows." Jones Anderson and her mother "strive for a convivial atmosphere and a diverse crowd filled with business associates, arts patrons, political figures, celebrities, friends and family members." A crowd of about 62 was expected for Saturday's Jets-Cowboys game, "with the overflow content to mingle by high-top tables and chairs and watch the game on television." Those expected to attend were Univ. of Texas System Chancellor William McRaven, MillerCoors CEO Gavin Hattersley and former Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck. There are "always last-minute cancellations and accommodations and additions," like late-night host and Jets fan Jimmy Kimmel on Saturday. Though Gene Jones has a seat, she "tends to roam during games, playing the role of dutiful hostess." Jones Anderson said, "You want to make sure that everyone has a great experience and not feel like they were slighted." When Jerry Jones is shown on TV, "what viewers see is not the main suite but rather a small alcove above the main box." Gene Jones said that her husband is "not permitted in the suite during a game," except for halftime, "when he circulates" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/19).
