ESPN Radio's Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic will be inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters HOF during an induction luncheon on April 19 in Las Vegas. Greenberg and Golic, who have hosted the net's "Mike & Mike" morning show since '00, join past sports-related HOF inductees including Vin Scully, Bob Uecker, Jack Buck and Harry Caray (NAB). Greenberg said, "There are very few things that leave me speechless. When I looked at the list of people who are in this Hall of Fame, it genuinely left me speechless." ESPN President John Skipper said, "I wouldn't be too shy about it. You deserve this. You really changed the way that America gets up in the morning, gets in their car and puts on 'Mike & Mike.' It changes the morning. You guys have changed the way people talk about sports. We're very appreciative of this" (“Mike & Mike,” ESPN Radio, 12/17).
MORE HOF INDUCTEES: In Oklahoma City, Mel Bracht notes TNT announcer Marv Albert and former NBC figure skating analyst Dick Button "were among eight broadcasters inducted" into the Sports Broadcasting HOF this week in N.Y. Three industry standouts who "helped grow Fox Sports were inducted: audio guru Fred Aldous, director Sandy Grossman and remote-operations legend Jerry Steinberg." Also included were Michael Pearl Productions consultant and "production maestro Mike Pearl, Game Creek Video founder Pat Sullivan and media mogul Ted Turner" (NEWSOK.com, 12/18).
