Red Wings Land Two Sponsors For New Arena In Meijer, St. Joseph Mercy Health System

Grocery chain Meijer and St. Joseph Mercy Health System are the first two Landmark-level partners for Detroit Events Center, representing the highest level of sponsorship at the Red Wings' new arena. Meijer is working on concepts for an interactive kids' area, free hockey clinics and player appearances. The St. Joseph Mercy Health System "Healthy Hockeytown" platform will include multiple health-oriented events within the community (Olympia Entertainment). In Detroit, Robert Snell noted both companies "have signed five-year deals" starting with the '17-18 season. The deals "represent the latest injection of revenue" at the $627M project under construction and come "one month after Olympia announced it had sold almost all of the suites at the 20,000-seat arena" opening in '17 (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 12/17). Also in Detroit, Louis Aguilar notes the naming rights for the new venue have yet to be decided. Olympia Entertainment Detroit Events Center Dir of Marketing Communications Jennifer Arapoff: “We just aren’t there yet at all with a decision on the naming rights" (DETROIT NEWS, 12/18).
