Auburn Fundraising Arm Studying Feasibility Of Jordan-Hare Stadium Renovations

Tigers Unlimited -- the fundraising and donor services arm of Auburn athletics -- is "putting together a feasibility study to gauge the level of interest and potential for support for upgrades to Jordan-Hare Stadium," according to Ryan Phillips of the BIRMINGHAM BUSINESS JOURNAL. Goals for the project include "generating additional space for fan amenities such as more concessions and restroom facilities, elevators and escalators, a North End Zone video board, an on-site kitchen and better sightlines to the field." The upgrades would also "address outdated locker room and recruiting space for the Auburn football team." Another portion of the upgrades "would be a wider range of premium seating options for Tigers Unlimited donors." A survey gauging feedback on the renderings "will be sent to approximately 5,000 Timers Unlimited accounts" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/16). In Birmingham, James Crepea cites a source as saying that if they are approved, the renovations "would start" following the '16 football season, with the project finished in time for the '18 season. The renderings released by Auburn, which are reworked plans after AD Jay Jacobs "was not pleased with initial design concepts for the potential project, show a mostly brick exterior to a multi-leveled concourse wrapping around the North end zone and connecting the East and West sides of the stadium." The interior views show a "multi-leveled seating plan including suites and club seating similar to those of Mississippi State's expansion of Davis Wade Stadium, which opened in the fall of 2014 with multiple levels, loge and field-level seating." The total "cost of the project," which had initial estimates around $145M, "is unclear, as is how it would be funded" (BIRMINGHAM NEWS, 12/17).
