Dunkin' Donuts Signs On As NWHL's First Major Sponsor, Will Have Logo On Team Jerseys

The NWHL has "landed its first major corporate sponsor," signing a multiyear agreement with Dunkin' Donuts, according to Kyle Clauss of BOSTON magazine. The QSR will be announced as the "official hot, iced and frozen coffee" of the upstart women's hockey league, and the company's logo will be "featured on all four franchises’ jerseys." Branded advertising "will appear on league goal posts, behind each bench, and on the league’s website." Dunkin' Donuts has also "entered into a personal services agreement" with Buffalo Beauts F and U.S. women’s team captain Meghan Duggan (BOSTONMAGAZINE.com, 12/7). YAHOO SPORTS' Greg Wyshynski wrote Dunkin' Donuts is the "most high-profile business to back the first-year league in which women’s hockey players receive a salary." This is "obviously huge news for the NWHL, whose profitability was going to come from a few revenue streams: Jersey and ticket sales; broadcast deals and corporate sponsorship." Securing Dunkin’ Donuts is, "at the very least, a level of proof of concept: Land one sponsor, and more could follow." Wyshynski: "Yes, there will be ads on jerseys. But if it means the difference between there being a league that pays women players with ads and not having one at all ... hell, NASCAR'em up" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 12/7).
