Colorado State, Under Armour Extend Partnership Through '20-21 School Year

Colorado State Univ. yesterday announced a long-term extension of its partnership with Under Armour for its athletics programs through '21. UA will continue to exclusively design and supply the gameday uniforms, as well as footwear, apparel and training equipment for each of CSU's 16 men's and women's varsity athletics teams beginning with the '16-17 school year. The deal includes alternate uniforms for CSU's football program (CSU). In Colorado, Kelly Lyell reports CSU "will receive" $2.2M a year in uniforms. School AD Joe Parker said that the agreement "could save" CSU about $1M a year. CSU "receives $100,000 worth of uniforms, footwear and other apparel" from UA under its current three-year agreement and is "able to purchase additional gear at wholesale prices." Parker said that CSU "has been spending close to" $1M a year to purchase the additional uniforms, footwear and apparel. The total value of the contract is worth more than $11M, "counting some promotional efforts and partnerships" that UA will be "involved in with the opening of CSU's new on-campus stadium" in '17. The track & field and volleyball programs for footwear and the women's swimming team for uniforms "currently have agreements with other companies" because UA does not yet have suitable options (Ft. Collins COLORADOAN, 12/3). Also in Colorado, Mike Brohard notes UA has always "provided special 'Orange Out' uniforms the different sports wear to honor the school's Colorado A&M roots." In addition, Parker said that three alternate football uniforms will be "provided to the school, with the two sides working on designs for those." Parker added that the years those will be used "are yet to be determined." Parker said that the school did "look around before agreeing to the extension, but through the process, CSU became more impressed" with UA (Loveland REPORTER-HERALD, 12/3).
