STATS LLC, one of the worldwide leaders in sports technology, data, and content, has begun a multi-year partnership with Scandinavian broadcasters Viasat and SBS Discovery, in which STATS will become the first provider of live tracking data for the Danish Superliga, Denmark’s top soccer league.

STATS’s SportVU technology is one of the best player tracking systems in the industry (you may know them from their partnership with the NBA), and they plan on enhancing the fan experience by making this data available across various digital platforms.

Max Andersen, Sports Director at TV3 Sport (previously Viasat Sport), said “Viasat chose STATS because of the easy-to-use SportVU system, the breadth of available data for journalists, and the integration with our graphics engine.  Viasat is now looking forward to evolving the fan experience with SportVU’s accurate data, visual effects, and web service integration.”

STATS also recently acquired Prozone, a soccer performance analysis company.  They will use Prozone’s analytical systems to interpret the raw data that they receive from SportVU, upon which they will make the information available to Superliga clubs.  In addition, they plan on working closely with superliga.dk to create immersive platforms through which they can share this data analysis with fans.

Ryan Paterson, the Managing Director of Prozone, said in a press release, “Our agreement with Viasat and SBS represents the first example of STATS’s industry-leading SportVU tracking technology working hand-in-hand with Prozone’s performance analysis solutions.  We see this convergence of media and pro services as key to our differentiated offering for progressive leave and broadcast partners.”
