Texas Football Ticket Prices, Donation Requirements, Remaining In Place Through '17

Univ. of Texas interim men's AD Mike Perrin in an email sent Tuesday to football season-ticket holders announced that ticket increases and donation requirements implemented for the '15 season "will remain in place" for '16 and '17, according to Brian Davis of the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN. Keeping prices flat for two consecutive years "will be received favorably by some." But it was "widely believed that Perrin would lower season ticket prices that had been implemented" by former men's AD Steve Patterson. Prices for some of the best seats inside Royal-Memorial Stadium "went up" 31% for '15. UT officials said that all seat prices "went up by an average" of 6% throughout the stadium. Davis notes the email "does not address the stiff no-resale policy Patterson implemented to keep some fans from reselling their tickets through secondary market outlets, like StubHub." However, sources said that UT officials "are leaning toward keeping that policy in place" for '16. These decisions "may alter how fans view Perrin, who replaced Patterson in mid-September" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 11/25). In Austin, Kirk Bohls writes UT "missed the boat" by announcing that it "will not roll back or at least somewhat lower prices for football season tickets" in '16. Bohls: "Sorry, Mike, you can brag on a home schedule with Notre Dame, TCU and Baylor, but 2015 games against those first two didn’t go all that well." Perrin "missed a chance to undo more Steve Patterson damage" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 11/25).
