AEG Reportedly In Final Stages Of Reaching Deal To Sell 50% Stake In Dynamo

AEG "appears close to selling" its 50% share in the Dynamo, according to Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. A source said that the sale of AEG's stake in the Dynamo "is in the final stages 'but not imminent.'" AEG owns 50% of the club and the "remaining 27 years on the 30-year lease on BBVA Compass Stadium." Golden Boy President & co-Founder Oscar De La Hoya and Brener Int'l Group Chair & CEO Gabriel Brener "each own" 25% stakes in the club. MLS Commissioner Don Garber "has long stated a goal to not have more than one owner per team." De La Hoya and Brener "are expected to maintain their shares in the club." A source said that "at least one member of the group trying to purchase the Dynamo is from the Houston area, but the potential buyers have not been identified." Rockets Owner Leslie Alexander three years ago was "close to finalizing the purchase of the Dynamo and the lease on BBVA Compass Stadium." But Alexander is "not part of the new group" trying to purchase the club (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/19).
