LSU-Alabama, FSU-Clemson Deliver Strong College Football Overnights For CBS, ABC

CBS led all Week 10 college football telecasts with a 6.3 overnight rating for LSU-Alabama in primetime on Saturday. That figure is the second-best overnight for any CFB matchup this season to date, behind only ESPN’s Ohio State-Virginia Tech matchup on Labor Day. The CBS telecast also is up 19% from a 5.3 for the same matchup last year in Week 11, which went to OT and had competition from a strong Ohio State-Michigan State matchup on ABC. This year's telecast, however, is down from a 6.9 overnight in '13. LSU-Alabama on Saturday peaked at a 6.9 rating during both the 8:30-9:00pm and 9:00-9:30pm ET windows. Meanwhile, ABC drew a 5.5 overnight for Florida State-Clemson in the 3:30pm window on Saturday, marking the third-best CFB overnight of the season. It also was ABC’s best 3:30pm CFB telecast since Florida-FSU drew a 5.6 in ’12. ABC also drew a 3.0 overnight for Minnesota-Ohio State on Saturday night, while Fox in primetime drew a 1.1 overnight for Utah-Washington. Fox’ telecast of TCU-Oklahoma State earlier in the day drew a 1.7 overnight, which was even with CBS' Arkansas-Ole Miss in the same window. ESPN led all cable TV games with a 2.0 overnight for Vanderbilt-Florida in the 12:00pm window, while ABC in the same window drew a 2.8 for Notre Dame-Pitt.
