Franchise Notes

In San Jose, Curtis Pashelka notes the Sharks drew a crowd of 15,491 for last night's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jackets, during which the team "wore their Heritage Jerseys for the first time this season -- sweaters that closely resemble the team's original uniforms from their first few seasons" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/4). CSNBAYAREA.com's Kevin Kurz noted the Sharks are "likely hoping that the sweaters, which have gotten across-the-board positive reviews, can help boost their attendance numbers." For their previous home game on Oct. 28, the Sharks "announced a crowd of just 15,219 -- their lowest attendance" since '06. The Sharks "kept their black jerseys in rotation for this season, typically worn for Thursday and Sunday home games." Although those jerseys "still sell well, for many they have become a symbol of playoff failure over the years" (CSNBAYAREA.com 11/3).

ROSIE OUTLOOK
: NWHL Commissioner and N.Y. Riveters GM Dani Rylan appeared on Yahoo Sports' "Marek vs. Wyshynski" podcast Monday to discuss how she manages both roles. She said, "At first the thought was, 'You know, it's one less person to train, one less person to pay.' Now, it's definitely something where I'll probably be looking for someone to take over the GM role next year." Rylan noted the Riveters are playing a "three-game exhibition in Nikko, Japan, in December, so we're having our global imprint right away. and I think that speaks a lot for the game and how it's evolved around the world." Meanwhile, the Riveters' jersey came in at No. 21 in the Hockey News' recent Top 100 Jerseys of All Time, Rylan: "That's pretty cool. The jersey design was decided by a fan contest, and the winning design was used" ("Marek vs. Wyshynski," SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 11/1).
