Audience Analysis: ESPN Hits 21-Year October CFB High For Michigan State Win

Michigan State's last-second win over Michigan on Saturday helped ESPN to its most-watched October college football game in more than 20 years. The game averaged 7.39 million viewers in the 3:30pm ET window, the net's best since a Florida State-Miami game in '94 drew 7.67 million. The game was also the most-watched college matchup of the weekend across all networks. ESPN's primetime broadcast of LSU's win over Florida garnered 6.77 million viewers, helping the net to its third most-watched regular-season college football Saturday ever.

SUNDAY FUNDAY: NBC's "SNF" telecasts through six weeks are averaging 24.1 million viewers, the best for the NFL's Sunday primetime broadcast package in 19 years (24.5 million in '96). Viewership for "SNF" is up 10% over this point in '14. Meanwhile, NBC's "Football Night In America" is averaging 9.8 million viewers to date, up 20% over '14 and the best start in the show's 10-year history. CBS through six weeks of the NFL season is averaging 18.9 million viewers, up 6% over '14 and the net's most for the AFC TV package through this point in the season since '87.
