The Astros announced the following promotions: QUINTON MCCRACKEN to Dir of Player Personnel, BRANDON TAUBMAN to Dir of Baseball Operations, MIKE FAST to Dir of Research & Development, ALLEN ROWIN to Dir of Minor League Operations, BILL FIRKUS to Dir of Sports Medicine & Performance, PETE PUTILA to Assistant Dir of Minor League Operations and TOM KOCH-WESER to Manager of Advance Scouting (Astros). Astros GM JEFF LUHNOW said that McCracken "will pick up" some of the responsibilities held by former Assistant GM DAVID STEARNS, who left to become Brewers GM in September. McCracken will "be at the table now for major league roster decision-making, but he's also going to work across the other facets of the operation" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10/20).

EXECS: The NHRA named The Enthusiast Network Senior VP of TEN Enterprises TYLER SCHULZE VP & CFO, effective immediately (NHRA)....Fox Sports Regional Networks named Time Warner Cable Sports Regional Networks Senior Producer JOHN HEFNER VP/Production & Coordinating Producer. He will oversee NCAA and NBA productions for Fox Sports' 22 RSNs (THE DAILY)....Syracuse Univ. named Boise State Compliance Dir MARK WHEELER to the same position (SYRACUSE.com, 10/19)....Florida Gulf Coast Univ. named East Tennessee State Univ. Assistant AD/Development TOM SCOTT Dir of Athletics Advancement (FGCU)....Learfield Sports named Red Bulls Ticket Sales Account Exec NICHOLAS WILLIAMS GM of its Jasper Sports Properties team at Manhattan College (Learfield)....The Specialized Marketing Group named LINDSEY GERBA to its Global Sports Marketing division. LAUREN ETTEN and SARAH JAWORSKI also are joining the group's Promotions division (Specialized Marketing Group).
