Kim Pegula Profiled As "First Lady Of Buffalo Sports," Hands-On Leader Of PSE

Pegula Sports & Entertainment President & CEO KIM PEGULA, who co-owns the Bills and Sabres with her husband TERRY PEGULA, was profiled by Vic Carucci of the BUFFALO NEWS as the "First Lady of Buffalo Sports." But this is "hardly a case of a queen lording over her royal subjects," as she "wants employees to feel as if they’re part of a family." Carucci asked, "Why the need to be this involved with PSE or any of the other mundane aspects of the Pegula properties?" She answered, "Because our name is on it. If this was just a generic company selling widgets, or whatever it is, or a marketing firm, or even if it just was a publicly traded company, it’d be different. But for Terry and me, our name is associated with everything that we’re doing." She described her husband's "direct involvement in the company as 'like zero.'" Carucci noted Terry "has yet to even visit the new offices since PSE’s move from the 31st floor of One Seneca Tower in August, although Kim keeps him current on what goes on inside the company." Kim added that her husband is "more creative than one might assume." When Kim "isn't on the premises" at PSE, she "uses videoconferencing to communicate with the PSE staff." When she is there, she "tries to spend more time listening than speaking." If anyone has an idea or suggestion that "might improve the fan experience at Ralph Wilson Stadium or First Niagara Center, she wants to hear it." Kim: "I’m a little competitive, so I want to have the best fan engagement, I want to do things that other teams don’t do. I generally don’t say no to a lot of things if you give me reasons why we should do it. And I’m not afraid to try different things" (BUFFALO NEWS, 10/18).
