Proud As A Peacock: Bob Costas Planning To Release Autobiography In '17

NBC's BOB COSTAS "will write his autobiography for HarperCollins," with an expected publishing date of '17, according to Richard Sandomir of the N.Y. TIMES. The book "will be written with" N.Y. Daily News columnist MIKE LUPICA. Costas said, "It just seemed to me like a good time to do it and I’d have more to say." He said that he "was not motivated" by the success of his colleague, AL MICHAELS, who last year wrote a best-selling autobiography, "YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP." Costas added that he "did not talk" to Michaels before "deciding to write his memoir" (NYTIMES.com, 10/18). NBC's MATT LAUER notes Costas has had a "remarkable career," and he is "literally one of the great interviewers around." He plans to "reflect on his childhood and his growing love of sports.” Lauer: "Of course, we think there will be an entire chapter dedicated to that little eye situation at the Sochi Olympics” (“Today,” NBC, 10/19).
