Texas' Perrin Tackling Interim AD Role With Potential Of Full-Time Status In Mind

Univ. of Texas interim men's AD Mike Perrin said he has been surprised by how much he has "enjoyed the job" since taking over for Steve Patterson, but added it is "not my call" whether he retains the job on a full-time basis, according to Ryan Autullo of the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN. UT President Gregory Fenves by all appearances will "take his time before announcing a permanent plan." Perrin on Saturday said that he is "not viewing his position as 'caretaker' and that he is considering the long-term when making decisions." Meanwhile, he said that he wants the school's prospective new basketball arena to be located "on campus or adjacent to campus if on the other side of I-35." On the subject of alcohol sales at home football games, Perrin said that law enforcement has "informed him there have been fewer drunken incidents than in past years, presumably because fans are pacing themselves throughout the day and not overindulging before games." Perrin also said he is "looking very hard at" the no-resale policy of discounted football tickets implemented by Patterson (STATESMAN.com, 10/17).
