Audience Analysis: ESPN's "GameDay" Seeing Best Start To CFB Season Since '11

ESPN’s “College GameDay” is averaging 1.95 million viewers this season to date, marking the pregame show’s best figure through Week 6 since ’11, when it was averaging just over 2.0 million viewers. The “GameDay” audience is up from 1.79 million viewers at the same point last year and up from 1.87 million viewers in ’13. This season’s first show on Sept. 5 from Ft. Worth -- site of the Alabama-Wisconsin matchup -- drew 2.23 million viewers, marking the show’s best audience since Nov. 24, 2012, when it aired from the Notre Dame-USC game. Meanwhile, ABC averaged 4.9 million viewers for Texas’ upset win over Oklahoma last Saturday in the 12:00pm ET window, marking the Red River Showdown’s best audience since 6.5 million viewers in ’11. The audience was up from 4.2 million viewers last season and 4.7 million viewers in ’13. 

EYE ON THE BALL: CBS through five weeks of the NFL season is averaging 18.2 million viewers, the most for the AFC TV package through this point in the season since '87.
