Local Retailers Anticipate Rush On New Clay Matthews Christmas Ornament

Hallmark stores "have stocked up with the ornament" of Packers LB Clay Matthews, which was "introduced this month by the card-and-gift company and already is selling quickly," according to Paul Gores of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Frederick Hallmark District GM Josh Umhoefer said, "So far sales have exceeded our expectations." Gores noted the ornament "sells for $17.95." The ornament of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers "started disappearing from store shelves" in the summer of '14 after it "became widely known he was Hallmark's 2014 choice for its special 'Legends' series of NFL stars." The Rodgers ornament "was released in July of last year." Former NFLer Brett Favre "was a Hallmark Football Legends special ornament" in '01, and former Packers CB Charles Woodson "was a Hallmark ornament" in '12. Hallmark "has found over the years" that the Packers and Steelers "have strong fan bases" to market the ornaments to (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 10/14).
