In Milwaukee, Alison Bauter noted locally based life insurance and financial services company Northwestern Mutual "will be the first sponsor" of the Rose Bowl's "Rose's America's New Year Celebration." This "comes on top of the presenting sponsorship of the Rose Bowl Game and official sponsorship of the Rose Parade." Northwestern Mutual "is also expanding its existing Rose Bowl sponsorship" to include the '16 Rose Bowl Game VIP Tailgate and the '15 Rose Bowl Game HOF. It "will continue to feature a float in the Rose Parade," and its official sponsorship "excludes competing sponsors on categories from life insurance and retirement planning through wealth management and financial planning" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/13).

SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION: ESPN.com's David Lombardi reported Stanford Univ.'s student store has "capitalized" on football coach David Shaw's reputation for a "certain stoic facial expression on the sideline" by planning to release a new T-shirt called "Fifty Shades of Shaw." The store "is currently accepting pre-orders for the shirt, but an official shipping date has yet to be announced." Shaw: "I've seen the shirt. My wife gets a kick out of it" (ESPN.com, 10/13).

GO WESTBROOK, YOUNG CAN: CBSSPORTS.com's Ananth Pandian noted Thunder G Russell Westbrook's face "is now on limited-edition Mountain Dew and Mountain Dew Code Red cans." Westbrook is sponsored by Mountain Dew "and collaborated" with artist Naturel in the cans' design (CBSSPORTS.com, 10/13).
