San Diego Mayor Continues Push For New Stadium In Meeting With Steelers' Rooney

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer yesterday "met for 45 minutes" with Steelers President Art Rooney II, the fourth member of a six-owner NFL committee on L.A. opportunities that Faulconer "has met with since late September," according to David Garrick of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Faulconer said that the goal was to make the case for "keeping the Chargers in San Diego directly to the NFL owners with the greatest influence over the league’s decision about whether the Chargers, Rams or Raiders move" to L.A. Faulconer added that his staff is "trying to set up meetings with the other two members of the committee" -- Texans Owner Bob McNair and Chiefs Chair & CEO Clark Hunt. Faulconer said that he "stressed to Rooney San Diego’s progress this year on stadium financing and environmental review" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 10/13).

CLEAN SHEET
: St. Louis stadium task force co-head Dave Peacock said that his group "will submit to the NFL the long-awaited term sheet, making the city’s bid proposal for a new stadium official." THE MMQB's Peter King noted owners "have been waiting to see that approximately 20-page document, with precise details of the funding and financing for the proposed new open-air stadium on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown St. Louis." Peacock: "We feel the support is there to get this done. We want a long-term lease, a 30-year lease, and we’re glad the league wants this term sheet to examine our proposal. It shows they seriously want to consider our proposal" (MMQB.SI.com, 10/12).
