Ticket Sellers Eager To Cash In On Much-Anticipated Michigan State-Michigan Game

Michigan State takes on Michigan on Saturday in Ann Arbor, and the "most-anticipated matchup in the series" since '99, when both schools entered undefeated, "has owners of tickets to the game at Michigan Stadium eager to cash in," according to Tony Paul of the DETROIT NEWS. Saturday will mark "just the seventh time in the history of the rivalry that both teams enter the game ranked 12th or better" in the AP rankings, and "just the second time" since '99. Prices on StubHub for the game "were steadily rising" during UM's 38-0 win over Northwestern on Saturday. Michigan-based The Ticket Machine Owner Brian Posey said, "You’re looking at about a $200 get-in for singles, $250 for two tickets and above, and good stuff between $300 and $325. It’s gonna be one of the bigger ones in 15-20 years.” Posey said that inventory "is low right now, though he expects that to change." This week, he expects to "start getting calls from MSU fans looking to sell their tickets." Paul notes Michigan Stadium is the "biggest college venue in the nation, seating more than 100,000, so theoretically, that means there would be more tickets available -- and, thus, lower prices -- than if the game was to be played at Spartan Stadium, which seats just 75,000." But Posey "isn’t seeing it play out like that" (DETROIT NEWS, 10/12). A UM spokesperson yesterday said that the school's athletic department "does not anticipate any tickets coming available this week via ReplyBuy, a service that sells tickets returned by the visiting opponent and tickets not used for recruiting, reunions, or campus groups, etc., via text message" (MLIVE.com, 10/12).
