Grantland Loses Editorial Dir Dan Fierman To MTV; Other Staffers Leave To Join Simmons

Grantland Editorial Dir Dan Fierman has "left the site to oversee MTV News" as VP & Editorial Dir, joining four other staff members at the site who have recently "resigned from ESPN," according to Meena Jang of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Author James Andrew Miller on Friday tweeted that four "highly regarded staffers" were leaving Grantland to join site founder Bill Simmons at HBO (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 10/12). SI.com's Richard Deitsch identified the four as Sean Fennessey, Juliet Litman, Mallory Rubin and Chris Ryan. It is unknown the "specific jobs they will have with Simmons." Meanwhile, Fierman was a "key behind the scenes" exec for Grantland. He had worked at the site since it was founded in '11, and he is a "big loss for that site" (SI.com, 10/11).
