The MLB Team And Player In The Playoffs With The Best Twitter Presence

Welcome to October, a month jam packed with clutch hitters, key pitchers, and Twitter marvels. That’s right, MLB fans aren’t the only ones tweeting and favoring this post-season. Teams and players are celebrating victories, giving crowd shout outs, starting trends all on their own, and taking social media to a whole new level of fan engagement.

Fan or not, if you have not scrolled through the @Mets (New York Mets) and @BMcCarthy32 (Brandon McCarthy, Pitcher LA Dodgers) twitter feed, I would highly suggest giving both accounts a follow. Whether it be catching what is trending under #TheEastIsOurs or favoring a sarcastic gem of a tweet that McCarthy has thrown out to his followers, MLB Fan Tweeters will not be disappointed.

What is so special about these two accounts is the degree of fan engagement each one provides. With a combined 587,400 followers, the New York Mets and Dodgers Pitcher Brandon McCarthy give followers exactly what they want, a personal connection. Both recognized for their fan interaction on twitter, favorites, follows and retweets come by the dozens in hopes that a response notification will appear shortly.

What is a game changer for the New York Mets account is the amount of hype that has uplifted the team, generating a strong storyline behind all published content. For the first time since 2006, Mets fans are no longer feeling angst and despair, but hype and exhilaration as the team heads into the post season.

Thanks to one of New York’s dedicated sports fans on YouTube, the video, “Right Now” hit the web and went viral in seconds, as a result, ending up in Twitter feeds state and nationwide. Their season long success has created a twitter revolution. As a result while dedicated Mets fans battled with them through years of disappointment, the Mets have utilized their social media accounts to effectively thank fans for their endless support. At the end of the day, what the Met’s Twitter account is achieving is creating an additional medium for fans to be a part of the chemistry for the team’s success.

On the other hand, Brandon McCarthy is not just known for his arm on the diamond, but he is a celebrity when it comes to hilarious and irreverent tweets. A year ago with the Yankees, the YES Network even went ahead and published an article, “10 Best Tweets From Brandon McCarthy’s Hilarious Twitter Account,” where the newest Yankees starters top tweet about joining the organization was, “*Kramer’s moviefone voice* “well why don’t you just tell me what number isn’t retired.” Quite the comedian on twitter, it does not end there. I will not give away all of McCarthy’s best work, but I can promise that a follow would not leave you disappointed.
