Colts-Texans Overnight Up For CBS/NFL Net, Continuing Trend Of Increases

CBS and NFL Network combined for a 10.7 overnight rating for the Colts' 27-20 "Thursday Night Football" win over the Texans, up 3% from a 10.4 rating for the comparable Vikings-Packers Week 5 matchup in '14. Thursday's game marks the lowest "TNF" overnight to date this season, but the series still has seen a ratings increase for each of its four contests. "TNF" ratings to date this season are up 16% over '14. Colts-Texans peaked at an 11.3 overnight between 9:30-10:00pm ET (Josh Carpenter, Staff Writer).

LINE JUDGES: In Houston, David Barron noted one of CBS' "newest pieces of technology" are pylon cameras that "provide angles down the goal line and the out of bounds markers." CBS Sports Exec VP/Operations, Engineering & Production Services Ken Aagaard said that he "has wanted for years to have a working pylon camera and that technology finally made it possible." NRG Stadium was the first venue with artificial turf in which CBS "has employed the pylon cameras, which involved running wires under the turf field." CBS NFL Lead Game Dir Mike Arnold said that the net "has used shots from the camera during two of the first three games in which it’s been available." Arnold added that virtual reality applications that can be "worked into the broadcast" will be "next on the technology horizon" (CHRON.com, 10/8).
