Red Sox Mostly Holding Line On '16 Ticket Prices After Finishing In Last Place Again

The Red Sox on Thursday announced that they "will hold prices at 2015 levels until Dec. 31 for season tickets, group tickets of 20 or more, four-game packages, and select single-game tickets in April, May, and September," but come Jan. 1, ticket prices will rise by an average of 1.4%, according to Peter Abraham of the BOSTON GLOBE. For most teams, including the Red Sox, more than 50% of tickets "are sold before Jan. 1." The increase "will affect 12 of the 22 non-premium seating categories," with some tickets going up by as much as $5. After Jan. 1, the only tickets at the same prices as '15 "will be the right-field roof deck, the right-field roof box terrace, the upper bleachers, and all standing room, plus two sections that provide stools: the Lansdowne Pavilion and Bud Deck Perch." The Red Sox "have not raised ticket prices in four of the last eight seasons." But the team "still has the highest average ticket price -- $52.34 -- in the majors" (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/9).
