Astros Expect To Sell Out Both ALDS Home Games; Dodgers, Blue Jays Tickets In Demand

The Astros expect ALDS Game 3 against the Royals on Sunday and a potential Game 4 on Monday "to sell out at Minute Maid Park," according to Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Astros President of Business Operations Reid Ryan said, "We’re going to have 42,000-plus for every game. We’ve already gone through our standing-room-only (tickets). They sold out in like an hour (Wednesday)" (CHRON.com, 10/8). Meanwhile, in L.A., Bill Shaikin noted even though the Dodgers announced that Games 1 and 2 of their NLDS against the Mets were sold out, the club was "still selling standing-room tickets on its website." The club is "charging $41 a ticket to stand on the top deck" for Game 1 on Friday and Game 2 on Saturday (LATIMES.com, 10/8).

A LOT OF LOONIES: The CP's John Chidley-Hill noted that tickets for the opening Rangers-Blue Jays ALDS games at Rogers Centre were "increasingly expensive on the secondary market," behind only the Cubs. As of Wednesday night, the average price for a ticket at Game 1 or 2 of the ALDS was US$250, "compared to $400 for a ticket in Chicago." On average, tickets in Toronto are "twice as expensive as the games in Texas ($127)." SeatGeek analyst Chris Leyden said, "The Cubs are blowing everyone out of the water, then the Blue Jays are there, and then there’s another drop off before the Royals and a few other teams are in that next little pack" (CP, 10/8).
