Royals, Blue Jays, Astros See Big Attendance Gains; Rays See Lowest Figure Since '05

MLB's average attendance for the '15 regular season was relatively flat compared to last year. Teams averaged 30,517 fans per game, up 0.2% from '14. AL teams were up just over 1% for the season, fueled by big gains for the Blue Jays, Royals and Astros. The Royals saw the biggest increase among all MLB clubs after their run to the World Series last season. Average attendance was up 38% at Kauffman Stadium this season as the team won its first division title since '85. That figure also marks the Royals' best attendance on record. The Astros saw a 23% increase during a surprise run to the AL Wild Card game, giving Minute Maid Park its best attendance since '10. The Blue Jays' first division title in 22 years led to an 18% increase at Rogers Centre. Despite a surprisingly strong season on the field, the Twins saw a fifth straight season of lower attendance (dating back to the opening of Target Field) and the club's lowest figure since '05. The Rays once again had the lowest attendance in MLB. Average attendance at Tropicana Field was down 14% from last year and the club's lowest figure since '05. Below are attendance figures for AL clubs this season. For NL figures, see tomorrow's issue (THE DAILY).
