Boston Magazine Cover Story States Something "Feels ... Off" About Robert Kraft

Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT is profiled in a BOSTON magazine cover story by Robert Huber, who writes while Kraft has "long been one of Boston's biggest philanthropists," something about him "feels ... off" since the death of his wife MYRA in '11. Kraft "really has become a hands-on giver," and he is "committed to doing good." However, it seems now as if Kraft, who has "gotten everything he has ever reached for, is worried, after years of polishing his image into a blinding gleam, that we still don't know who he is." Deflategate "revealed the fragility of Kraft's legacy" with the Patriots, and he "became desperate to save it." Kraft "seemed not just angry that the NFL so willingly played fast and loose with flimsy evidence" against QB TOM BRADY, but instead was "beside himself with the notion that something like this could happen to him, as if none of us -- the league, [ROGER] GOODELL, the fans, the world -- understands just who he is." Kraft has given away more than $100M over the years to causes such as Partners HealthCare, the Harvard Business School, the United Way and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. But there have long been "dark rumblings ... that he is ultra-aggressive" on business matters, that he "pushes deals to the max." Some claim that Kraft "uses his natural charm as a weapon." One Boston businessman said, "He comes on very strong. The first thing he does is ingratiate himself. ... Some people are too much in your face, and Bob is one of those guys. He came across as very phony" (BOSTON magazine, 10/ '15 issue).
